How it works

1. Search by need

Type "sms", "voice", "llm" or "weather". The catalog grows every hour.

2. Compare 9 options

3 free, 3 with a free plan, 3 paid, with a "how they differ" table: what's free, where paid starts, who each is best for.

3. One click to the key

Shortcuts go straight to each provider's API key page, sign-up, pricing and docs.

4. Keys stay on your Mac

Encrypted vault on your own computer, never on our servers. Your code uses a key's name, like resolve("openai-main"), never the raw key.

5. Daily key check

Checks every day that your keys still work (17 major providers) and warns 14 days before an expiry date you set.

6. Safe to share code

A key's name grants no access on its own. Paste code into an AI chat or push it to GitHub without leaking the key.

FAQ

Where are my keys stored?

In an encrypted file on your Mac (Fernet encryption, key derived from your master password with PBKDF2-SHA256, 480,000 iterations). We never see your keys or your master password, so a lost master password can't be recovered.

Does it run on Windows or Linux?

Not today. KeyScout is a Mac app.

Why does my Mac warn me when I first open it?

The early-access installer isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. To open it the first time: right-click the installer, choose Open, then Open again.

Are the prices shown for each API exact?

No. Price levels are read from each provider's pricing page and can go out of date. Always check current pricing on the provider's site.

Do you earn money from sign-up links?

Some sign-up buttons are partner links. KeyScout may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no cost to you. Partner links never change which services we show or how we rank them.
